Still rebuilding
Hurricane Laura came through Iowa with the worst of the wind, and several years on there are still roofs being replaced, slabs being poured and houses being finished. An Iowa rebuild job takes one standard unit and a handwashing station, and the crew usually keeps it for the length of the house rather than a few weeks.
Rebuild work in Iowa moves street by street as insurance and contractors line up, so a unit that served one address often shifts three doors down. We reset an Iowa unit on a call rather than making anyone place a whole new order.
Rice country and the highway
East of town the Iowa ground turns to rice fields, crawfish ponds and levee roads, and the farm work out there follows flooding and drawdown rather than any calendar we set. An Iowa field job gets a unit on the levee road or at the turn row where it is not going to end up in water.
Trucking and highway business keeps the Iowa interchange busy, with yards, shops and fuel stops along the corridor that run their own projects. A commercial Iowa site takes a cluster of standard units with handwashing stations near the shop door.
Town weekends and the rabbit festival
Iowa is small enough that a festival weekend involves most of the town, and the rabbit festival brings in visitors from across southwest Louisiana every spring. For that weekend Iowa banks go at the grounds entrance, near the stage and by the parking field, with handwashing stations beside the cook teams.
Church suppers, ballgames and school fundraisers fill out the rest of the Iowa calendar with one or two unit orders. Anything set for an Iowa Saturday gets delivered Friday and collected Monday, since nothing on our schedule moves on Sunday.
